On 20th October 2025, World Evidence-Based Health Care Day was observed at PEMH Rwp, with great enthusiasm. A special lecture was organized on this occasion, delivered by Prof. Dr. Sohail Sabir HOD medicine/ Advisor in Nephrology, who gave a comprehensive and insightful explanation on the importance of evidence-based medical practice in improving patient care and clinical outcomes. The session emphasized the critical role of research, clinical expertise, and patient values in guiding effective healthcare decisions. The event witnessed an excellent turnout, with a large number of house officers and residents from various specialties actively participating. The lecture was followed by an engaging question-and-answer session, allowing attendees to clarify concepts and discuss practical applications of evidence-based medicine in their daily practice.
A three-hour seminar was conducted at the Armed Forces Post Graduate Medical Institute (AFPGMI) on the eve of Evidence-Based Health Care Practices Day on 20th Oct 2025. The session was conducted by Prof. Shamaila Mohsin (Head of Dept of Public Health, AFPGMI and Master Trainer of Cochrane Pakistan) who highlighted the importance of integrating scientific evidence into clinical decision-making to enhance patient outcomes and health system efficiency. The session highlighted the launch of Cochrane Pakistan in 2024 under the dynamic leadership of patron Prof. Dr. Sohail Sabir with the mission to elevate healthcare standards in Pakistan through rigorous research synthesis and the promotion of evidence-based medical practices. She emphasized the dedicated efforts of the team of facilitators in conducting capacity-building workshops to promote evidence-based health care across institutions. As part of Cochrane’s global network, the group is committed to building capacity, fostering collaboration, and influencing healthcare policy using systematic reviews and the GRADE methodology. The audience comprised of MCC, MSc, and MSPH students, who actively participated in the subsequent Question and Answer session, demonstrating keen interest and engagement in the topic. The event concluded with the address by the worthy Commandant, AFPGMI, Dr. Muhammad Rafique who appreciated the initiative, commended the speaker and the team’s efforts, and emphasized the continuing need for promoting Evidence-Based Health Care Practices in both education and service delivery across the Armed Forces Medical Services.
