CPSP Organizes Pre Conference Workshop on Cochrane Systematic Review & Meta-Analysis at Fazaia Postgraduate Medical Institute (FPGMI), PAF Hospital, Islamabad.
The Fazaia Medical College, successfully conducted a one-day academic workshop titled “Introduction to Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis” as an academic prelude to the CPSP International Medical Education Conference (IMECON 2026), at the Fazaia Postgraduate Medical Institute (FPGMI), PAF Hospital, Islamabad, on Wednesday, 21st January 2026.
The inaugural ceremony of the workshop was graced by Air Vice Marshal Sohail Akbar, SI(M) DGMS, as the chief guest. His presence underscored the institution’s commitment to advancing medical education and high-quality research. The Guest of Honor , Maj. Gen. Prof. Sohail Sabir HI(M), Councilor CPSP and Director of Cochrane Pakistan, addressed the audience and emphasized the importance of collaboration between various institutes to promote advance level research in Pakistan. Principal Fazaia Medical College and the Dean Health Sciences Maj. Gen. Muhammad Tahir Khadim HI(M)(R) appreciated the efforts of organizers, CPSP and Cochrane Pakistan in the concluding remarks. Prof. Dr. Rukhsana Khan, HOD Community Medicine, organizer and facilitator of workshop provided an overview of Cochrane Systematic Review and Meta Analysis and the objectives of the workshop. After presentation of souvenirs a group photograph was taken with participants.
Main sessions of the workshop started with introduction to systematic review and Meta Analysis by Maj. Gen. Prof. Sohail Sabir HI (M) followed by Prof. Shamsa Rizwan, Prof Dr Rukhsana Khan, Prof .Rizwan Hashim and Dr. Arshia Bilal. A diverse group of 25 participants including PGs, Faculty and Consultants from Rawalpindi, Islamabad ,Wah and Rawla Kot attended the workshop.
This CPSP-endorsed workshop marked an important academic initiative by Fazaia Medical College, Air University, reinforcing its dedication to research excellence and continuous professional development. Participants highly appreciated the informative sessions and expressed keen interest in advanced, hands-on training in systematic reviews and meta-analysis in the future.
Enthusiastic Participation and Positive Feedback
The workshop received an overwhelmingly positive response from members of the College faculty. Participants particularly appreciated the interactive format and the facilitators' depth of knowledge.
One of the participants remarked: “I feel more confident now to start a systematic review on my own”.
